About

Chris Jonah, with his brand of close-up magical entertainment, knows how to get people engaged and excited and, most importantly, he knows how to entertain them with sleight-of-hand magic!

This isn't your uncle Jimmy with his 'count three piles of seven, choose one pile, choose a card from that pile, pick up all the piles, count them into three piles again…' - you get the picture! No top-hats! No bunny rabbits! This is high calibre sleight of hand and the application of techniques such as misdirection and other psychological subtleties that enable Chris to perform small miracles under your nose and in your hands! Most people haven't seen this kind of thing before, and this is your chance to bring it to them!

Chris achieves his effects through time-honoured sleight of hand, and an innate ability to apply the techniques of misdirection and build rapport with his audience.

Chris has recently graduated from Loughborough University with a 2:1 in Accounting and Finance. He has also spent a year working in Birmingham for the World's 5th largest accountancy network. He understands what it means to be professional, and likes to bring this element into his work as a magical entertainer. Whilst at University Chris has used his magical talents to help finance his degree, performing at numerous student events over the years.

Chris is also a member of the British Magical Society based in Birmingham. In his first year of membership he entered and came joint first in his first magic competition. He has also performed close-up magic at the annual dinner for the British Magical Society. If you would like any information regarding the BMS Chris would love to put you in contact with the membership secretary should you wish to develop your love of magic.

Close Up Magic

Close-up Magic has experienced a growth in recent years especially since the appearance (no pun intended) of David Blaine, and other street performers. Close-up magic involves a move away from the stage; away from special lighting and equipment; there are no mirrors or trapdoors. Instead the magic is close up and personal, much of it happening in the hands of the spectators! Close-up magicians can often be seen doing seemingly impossible things with a simple deck of cards, with coins, cutlery, watches and whatever else they may get their hands on!

The most important thing to Chris is that he leaves people entertained and that they have experienced high quality close up magic.

Sometimes referred to as 'mix-and-mingle', 'walkaround' or 'table-hopping' magic, it is perhaps the most versatile and fluid type of magic, perfect for events where guests may be seated at tables or bars, and also where guests are mingling around such as a champagne reception setting.
